Announcing a new chapter of our partnership with Gusto

Kevin Busque Profile
Kevin Busque
CEO and Founder of Guideline

We’re excited to embark on a new chapter in our longstanding partnership with Gusto by integrating with Gusto Embedded Payroll. As pioneers in the HR space, Gusto and Guideline are both focused on technology-first experiences that make running small and medium businesses (SMBs) easier. In keeping with that mission, Gusto has created an easy way for companies to power their own payroll solution — and Guideline will be the first retirement partner for Gusto Embedded Payroll.

Expanding our partnership

Gusto is Guideline’s first and most established payroll integration. We have been partners for eight years and share tens of thousands of customers.1 We are grateful for our lasting partnership, as it has helped shape and grow Guideline into the company it is today.

Our integration with Gusto continues to provide customers with automated retirement benefits.

"We learned about Guideline through its partnership with Gusto. They're so plugged into Gusto, they make the experience seamless — it was just a no brainer to adopt it."

This won’t change. We’re simply expanding to bring our retirement offerings to Gusto Embedded partners and their customers as well.

Embedded payroll 101

Embedded payroll allows companies to expand their product offering to include payroll without spending the time and money to build it themselves from scratch. With an embedded payroll API or pre-built components, a business can directly incorporate payroll functionality into their software platform. This enables native payroll access and management without switching systems, while also providing a way to increase average revenue per customer.

Guideline is a retirement innovator in the embedded space, with more than 10 partners offering Guideline retirement plans via embedded payroll.

Gusto Embedded allows partners to seamlessly integrate customized payroll and benefits into their own solutions without sacrificing compliance, reliability, or a delightful user experience. It has helped dozens of partners like Chase Payment Solutions, Xero, Lattice, Vagaro, and many others build fully integrated payroll options for their small business customers, directly inside their platforms.

Seamless benefits

When you pair embedded payroll with integrated benefits, you can offer customers an all-in-one solution.2 Shortly after signing up for payroll, many businesses start to look for benefits like retirement plans. And with more states passing retirement mandates for employers, integrated benefits make staying compliant easier.

Retirement benefits in particular can help companies hire and retain employees. Guideline research shows that one in two employees would turn down a job offer from a company that does not offer a retirement benefit.3

Retirement accessibility

Gusto’s embedded partners serve more than 1 million SMBs. Offering an affordable, integrated retirement benefit as a part of this payroll solution will increase access to retirement savings for millions of workers. Guideline offers a comprehensive suite of retirement options to fit a variety of customer types, including Safe Harbor and traditional 401(k), Starter 401(k), and Solo(k). Integrating with Gusto Embedded Payroll is taking us one step closer to our mission of making retirement benefits accessible to all.

Interested in switching to or getting started with a new 401(k) provider? Reach out to your Gusto partner manager and let them know you want to add Guideline as a benefit.
